Mooresville, Lake Norman and Iredell County
Most Mooresville calls start with a water heater: rumbling, running out early, or puddling at the base. We tell you whether it's a repair, a straight tank replacement, or a tankless upgrade, and the person who quotes the job is the person who does it.

From the older homes near downtown to the subdivisions off Brawley School Road and the houses on the lake, these are the calls Mooresville homeowners make most, across the 28115 and 28117 ZIP codes. Our team handles the scheduling, so you always know when we're coming.
Sized to how your house uses hot water now, not just the old tank's label, and what changes when your home is on a well.
Lower-level backups in Lake Norman homes, long runs on deep lots, and how to tell a clogged line from a sewage pump that's stopped working.
Everything else we handle in Mooresville
Mooresville is really three kinds of house. Downtown and the streets closest to it hold the oldest homes, where supply lines, drain lines, and shutoff valves are often original. Out along Brawley School Road and the newer subdivisions, the houses are younger but bigger: multiple baths, an upstairs laundry, and enough demand at once that a builder-grade water heater struggles. And on the water, large floor plans put the far bathroom a long way from the heater.
Same town, three different jobs, so we don't walk into a Mooresville house with an assumption. We look at what's there, the age of the pipe, the water pressure, and how the system was put together, and work from that before we quote anything.
The water plays a part too. If you're on the public system, your water comes from Lake Norman and is treated at the Town of Mooresville's own plant. Like any treated surface water it carries dissolved minerals, which settle as sediment in a tank water heater and as scale on a tankless heat exchanger. That's why yearly flushing on a tank and yearly descaling on a tankless unit matter here. Installed prices for both kinds of heater are on our pricing page.
Drains are the other big part of the work. We clear them with cable machines and a hydro jetter, and run a sewer camera when the job calls for it, so you know what's in the line before anyone talks about digging. There are also jobs we don't do: commercial work, new construction, trenchless sewer repair, and gas fireplaces. We'd rather tell you that up front.

Tankless is our specialty, and Mooresville is where a lot of it happens. Larger Mooresville and Lake Norman homes send hot water to places a 50-gallon tank was never sized for: a second-story primary bath at the far end of the house, two showers on a school morning, a soaking tub that empties the tank before it's full. A properly sized tankless unit doesn't run out. Our guide to tankless water heaters for Lake Norman homes covers the waterfront and second-story cases.
If you wait a minute or more for hot water at the far bathroom, that's distance, not capacity, and the fix is usually a hot water recirculating system rather than a bigger heater. Some houses need both.
Tankless isn't automatically the right answer. Gas supply, the venting route, and how much hot water your household uses at once all decide it, and sometimes a straight tank replacement is the better call. We'll tell you which. Once a unit is in, Mooresville's minerals make yearly care part of owning it, and our write-up on Navien tankless maintenance for Mooresville homeowners explains what that involves.
Plenty of homes around the lake and out in Iredell County, beyond the Town of Mooresville's water service, run on a private well, and a well brings its own set of problems: pressure tanks, pressure switches, iron, hardness, and pump failures. Our owner, Jonathan Johns, holds a Well Seal Certification that covers that work, so you're not calling one company for the well and another for the plumbing. If you're wondering what's in the water, start with a test through the Iredell County health department before anyone sells you equipment. Our article on coal ash and well water around Lake Norman links the state's own records.
What we handle on a well
When you call us, you're not calling a dispatch center. Our team answers and schedules, and the person who quotes the job is the person who does it. Nobody works on commission, nobody hands your job to a subcontractor, and nobody quotes a repair they haven't looked at.
What customers tend to mention isn't the license. It's that we explained what was wrong in plain language, gave a price before starting, and didn't try to sell anything else. We'd rather do a small repair honestly and hear from you again in a few years than talk you into a system you don't need.
You don't have to take our word for the credentials. The North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors keeps a public license lookup, and we'd encourage you to check us and anyone else you're considering. We're also not a 24-hour operation, and we'd rather say so plainly than promise round-the-clock service we can't staff.
And every month, through our Serving Hands program, we do a plumbing repair free of charge for a family who can't afford one.

“MACAW does excellent work! Had a holiday emergency right before Christmas, and needed a new water heater. These guys came out on Christmas Eve and installed a new water heater - great price, fast service, provided detailed feedback along the way. HIGHLY recommend for your next plumbing job, big or small!”
“We are very pleased with the service. We received a call back promptly from Jon. We had a hot water heater installed, he took the old one away and cleaned up after the service was complete. I would definitely recommend Macaw Plumbing.”

It depends on the age and what's wrong. Rumbling usually means mineral sediment has built up in the bottom of the tank, which is common on Mooresville's lake water. A tank under about ten years old with a bad element, thermostat, or sediment problem is often worth repairing or flushing. Past ten to fifteen years, or if the tank itself is leaking, replacement is almost always the better money, and we'll go over whether tankless makes sense for your house. You'll know which one you're looking at before you spend anything beyond the $94 service call, and that fee is waived if the work goes ahead.
If you're on the public system, your water comes from Lake Norman and is treated at the Town of Mooresville's own plant. Like any treated surface water it carries dissolved minerals, which show up as sediment in the bottom of a tank water heater and as scale on a tankless heat exchanger. Neither is a crisis. It's the reason yearly flushing on a tank and yearly descaling on a tankless unit matter here.
Within set hours, and we'd rather be straight about them. We're available for emergencies Monday through Friday from 5 to 10 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to 10 PM, the window when most people get home and find a problem. We don't run overnight or Sunday service, and we don't advertise 24/7 availability we can't back up.
Yes. Our owner, Jonathan Johns, holds NC Well Seal Certification in addition to his P1 Unlimited plumbing license, so we work on the well pump, the pressure tank and switch, whole-home filtration for iron and hardness, and the plumbing into the house. For questions about what's in the water, start with a test through the Iredell County health department.
