Huntersville and north Mecklenburg County

Trusted Plumber in Huntersville, NC

Huntersville is a young town with plumbing that isn't young anymore. Most of the houses here went up between the mid-1990s and the mid-2010s, which means the water heaters, valves, and supply lines the builder put in are now hitting the age where they start giving out.

Huntersville Plumbing Services That Keep Life Flowing

Macaw Plumbing & Tankless is a family-owned, licensed plumbing company serving Huntersville and north Mecklenburg County. We handle everything from a running toilet to a full water heater or tankless replacement, and our team handles scheduling so you're never left wondering when someone is coming.

Comprehensive Plumbing Services in the Huntersville Area

Huntersville homes tend to be bigger and busier than the older housing stock east of I-77. Two and three stories, three or four bathrooms, an upstairs laundry, gas service to the kitchen and the water heater. More fixtures and longer runs mean more places for a system to develop a problem, and more that has to be sized correctly when a component gets replaced.

That's the practical difference in a newer suburb. The pipe isn't corroded through the way it is in a 1940s house. Instead, a pressure-reducing valve drifts out of adjustment, a builder-grade shutoff seizes, a kitchen line slowly fills with grease, or a water heater sized for the original owners no longer keeps up with a family of five.

Clogged and slow drains are a bigger part of that work now. We clear them with cable machines and a hydro jetter, and run a sewer camera when the job calls for it, so you know what's actually in the line before anyone talks about replacing it. Our drain cleaning page covers what each of those tools is for.

Whatever the job is, we diagnose it before we quote it. If a repair will get you another five years, we'll say so. There are jobs we don't do: we don't work on gas fireplaces, we don't do trenchless sewer repair, and we don't take commercial or new-construction work. We'd rather tell you that up front than take the job and figure it out later.

Energy-Efficient Tankless Water Heater Installations

Tankless is our specialty. Huntersville is a good fit for it: natural gas service is common through most of the town's subdivisions, and the larger floor plans here, the ones running a shower upstairs while the dishwasher is going downstairs, are exactly the households that notice the difference between a 50-gallon tank and continuous hot water. A tankless unit also gets a bulky tank out of a garage bay or a hallway closet.

It isn't automatically the right answer. Gas supply, venting route, and how much hot water your household actually uses at once all decide it, and sometimes a straightforward tank replacement is the better call. We'll walk you through both honestly. Before we arrive, our breakdown of tankless versus tank cost of ownership runs the twenty-year numbers, tankless water heater ventilation covers the part most homeowners never think about, and our pricing page lists installed prices for both.

Just Outside Town Limits? You're Probably on a Well

Homes just outside the town limits are often on private wells rather than Charlotte Water, and that's a different set of problems. Our owner, Jonathan Johns, holds a Well Seal Certification that covers that work, so you're not calling one company for the well and another for the plumbing.

Why Huntersville Homeowners Trust Macaw Plumbing & Tankless

There's no shortage of plumbing trucks working north Mecklenburg. What's harder to find is a licensed company where the person who quotes the job is the person who does it, explains what we found, and doesn't work on commission.

You don't have to take our word for any of the credentials. The North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors keeps a public license lookup, and we'd encourage you to check us and anyone else you're considering.

We're also honest about our limits. We are not a 24-hour operation, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than promise round-the-clock service and leave you on hold at two in the morning.

And every month, through our Serving Hands program, we do a plumbing repair free of charge for a family who can't afford one. That's not a marketing line. It's why we started this.

Call (704) 798-2659
Do you actually serve Huntersville, or is it just on a list?

We serve it. Huntersville is on the western edge of our territory. We're based in China Grove, roughly half an hour east, so we schedule Huntersville work as planned appointments rather than treating it as a drop-in stop. What that means for you is a real arrival window instead of "sometime this afternoon."

My house is only twenty years old. Why would I need a plumber already?

Because twenty years is right about when the first round of builder-installed components wears out. Water heaters run ten to fifteen years. Pressure-reducing valves, supply lines, hose bibs, angle stops, and garbage disposals all have shorter lives than the house. In neighborhoods where every home went up in the same two-year window, those failures tend to show up on the whole street around the same time.

Are you available for emergencies at night?

Within limits, and we'd rather be straight about them. We're on call Monday through Friday from 5 to 10 PM and Saturday from 8 AM to 10 PM. That covers the evening window when most people get home and discover a problem. We do not run overnight or Sunday service, and we don't advertise 24/7 availability we can't back up.

Who do I call about a water or sewer problem in the street?

If the issue is on the street side of your meter or in the public main, that's Charlotte Water, which provides water and sewer service to Huntersville. Anything from the meter into your house is yours, and that's where we come in. If we're not sure which side a problem is on, we'll tell you what we see rather than guessing you into a repair you don't need.
